Today's topic: Brave
Brave isn't always a stiff upper lip.
Brave isn't always being strong.
Brave isn't always answering, "I'm fine."
Recently, I ran into a friend and asked after her and her family. It had been months since we'd last talked. We stood in front of the tomatoes in the grocery store. She told about her loss this winter and her secret fears of the present. Her honesty was brave.
So often I have not been brave, keeping my fears and struggles to myself.
I'm learning that sometimes brave is vulnerability with those you know will stand by you. Will get on their knees for you. Will take your trembling hands and lead you to the One who comforts.
Praise to the God of All Comfort
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ.
~ 2 Corinthians 1:3-5
